(Lukas x Reader x Baby!Emil - Help The Brothers :Chapter 2)

"Don't cry! I didn't mean to upset you!" you cooed after Emil, hoping to catch the young one's attention long enough to defuse him.

To no avail. It had been 15 minutes since the adorable kiddo had felt neglected by you. Lukas had assured you that Emil would stop soon ("He hasn't slept properly for weeks since he began living here. Babies tire themselves out, right?") yet the little tyke was still giving it his all. The sight just tore you in two.

"He'll stop." Lukas repeated for about the 12th time, walking around the kitchen and bobbing Emil up and down as he tried to doge the balled up fists that lashed out at him in mini baby rage.

The blonde was no fool; for someone who displayed no emotion (in front of others that is) he sure could read others like an open book. If this was a more appropriate time, he'd even be amused about how much your worried expression of pouty lips and wide eyes reminded him so much of Emil when he was about to pull out the tantrum card. But, you were showing signs of another emotion that he couldn't quite place... one he had never witnessed first-hand before.

"Give him here a second." You timidly asked after much deliberation.

Lukas raised an eyebrow at you, still suspicious about that one emotion he couldn't put his finger on.

"Are you sure?" He asked, eyes fixed on you in wonder.

You nodded in reply. Lukas quickly handed Emil over to you with an encouraging look. At first, you hesitated and just looked down at the child. But then something clicked inside of you, making a sort of...warmth spread throughout your system. The pleasant feeling slipped a smile on your face and made you cradle the bundle in your arms close to your chest. You cooed Emil's name with a softness that surprised even you. In turn, he stopped crying and looked up at you, shiny eyes reflecting the same wonder that his brother had just given you. He seemed to be fascinated by your voice. Anyone would pick this charming, delightful little baby who was clinging to your shirt over the one that seemed to be a professional air raid siren.

"Wow." Lukas mumbled under his breath, realising what that mystery expression had meant. "You have such a good motherly instinct. I should have called you weeks ago."

You gave a chuckle in response and, leaning back against the kitchen counter, watched as the child twirled a strand of (H/C) hair around his little pinky. Like magic, Emil was now the quietest he'd been all week and was fighting a losing battle to keep his eyes open.

"(Y/N)... Would you mind staying for a while? I hate to admit it but we aren't doing so good. I've never had to do this before. It's impossible to do the best for my little brother alone." Lukas had to catch up with his own breath that had managed to escape him. He wasn't used to speaking so long with the focus on him.
"Just for tonight?" he added after seeing your expression of slight confusion.

"Well..." You really didn't have anything to do tonight. Even if you did you were sure you'd find some way out of it to spend a little more time with this cutie... You're talking about Emil when you say cutie, right?
"Alright. Emil looks like he'll be drifting off soon. Why don't we go sit in the living room until he's asleep?"

Lukas gave a nod and seemed to perk up now that his ears were no longer under attack.

"Thank you, (Y/N)."

You smiled and nodded your head in the direction of the hall you had just came from.

"Lead the way then."

The man took his commands well. He led you out into the hall before turning right and walking towards the split in the hallway.

"We haven't got much as we've only just moved in."

You turned the corner of the hallway along with Lukas and just gave a nonchalant shrug. In front of you was a comfy looking, dark, blue loveseat with a furry white rug underneath it. The oak coffee table that sat in front of the sofa had the same sort of craftsmanship as the vintage table you passed in the hall.

"Honestly, Lukas. I don't care about what you have and what you haven't got. I'm just admiring how mature you're being, looking after your little brother like this." you whispered as to not wake up the finally silent Emil.

"Good. Because we don't have a crib either." he replied at the same volume, wearing his infamous poker face.

"W-Wha? Then how has Emil been sleeping? He can't be more than, what, 5 months?"

"Spot on."

"Lukas! I heard that sass."

"Sorry."

A sigh escaped you as you settled your gaze on the guy in front of you, back pressed against the wall that separated the living room from the rest of the house.

"We're going to have to buy one, you know. I can't just leave without knowing you guys are ok."

You looked down at the bundle in your arms and couldn't help smiling yet again at the sight.

"Does Miss. (Y/N) care about us now?" he teased, keeping his smirk visible in his tone of voice.

"W-Well. I-I. Just shush it, you. If Emil wasn't sleeping right now my voice would totally be raised." you huffed after the Norwegian.

"You sound like my mother now... don't do that." He gave you such an intent stare that you bowed your head. You hated that feeling; it was as if you'd just been caught with your hand in the cookie jar.

"Now it's my turn to say sorry... I didn't mean to-"

"Doesn't matter." Lukas cut you off before you'd even managed to formulate an apology. "I think we can still make the bus if we hurry."

"Any nappies for Emil? Warm clothes?"

Lukas just gave a even blanker look than his normal one.

If your hands were free to facepalm, you definetly would.

"Calm down. We can get all that. I'll just have to call in a few favors."

"Favo-"

Lukas grabbed you by your free hand and rushed you back down the hall and through the door. Like he'd planned on, you were too stunned by this sudden skin on skin contact to react.

You think he was stupid enough to go into details about what those favors were? He might as well just throw in all credibility that he had gained from you this very instance if that was the case.
No, if (Y/N) was going to find out about... them ... then it was going to be later.

Not now.
//Did someone say... NORGE? :D

(Y/N) = Your name
